I purchased the Harmony 880 remote after upgrading my home entertainment system with a new TV. Let me start by saying this is the greatest addition to my home entertainment experience.

It took about 15 minutes to get all my devices added to the remote (Sony Bravia KDL40W4100, Sony Home Theater in a Box including DVD, DirecTV HR-22 Satellite Box, XBox 360). I was able to input all these devices and it requested I line the original remote up to the Harmony 880 and press a series of 3 buttons to ensure the buttons are mapped correctly.

The software included allows you to make an infinite number of customizations and activities such as Watch TV, Watch DVD, Play XBox, etc. When you change activities, the remote is smart enough to turn off the devices not in use and turn on the devices needed to perform the activity. If something goes wrong, simply hit the Help button and it is smart enough to determine what link failed. It will change the input on all the devices to the correct input.

Overall, this remote continues to amaze me with its ability to manage many different components. I would highly recommend this device for your home entertainment needs.

It is so easy, my four year old son can turn the TV on simply by pressing one button. Before this remote, it required multiple remotes to turn on the receiver and the TV, now, one remote does it all.

Do yourself a favor and purchase this remote. You will be glad you did.

When it comes to home electronics, computers or anything technology related, I like it all to be simple and intuitive. I’d rather spend my time reading a suspense novel than an owners manual. The Harmony 880 was the answer to my home theatre system frustration. I hated having to use 3 remotes, just to perform simple functions. The beauty of the Harmony 880 is that it is simple to set up and easy to use. In my case, the set up was a bit more complicated since I have a Samsung TV and a Samsung Home Theatre system, that responded to the same signal. Tech support had to do some behind the scenes programming to get everything working correctly. And tech support was fabulous - the best experience I have ever had with a company’s tech support department. If your TV is made by the same manufacturer as your home theatre system, don’t despair if the Harmony 880 does not appear to be working properly. The problem with the crossed signals can be fixed!

This remote works great if you have people in or visiting your house that have no idea how to switch your entertainment system between cable, dvd, video games, cds, etc. The remote turns on the correct components, changes the input settings and switches the volume control to the correct device for the activity you just selected. It is easy to program via your computer and you can customize every possible aspect, down to reassigning what each button does. The only potential complaint I have is that the volume and channel up/down buttons are a little too small, but other than that it works great. With the charging system, you don’t even have to buy batteries.
